How to purify water
How can you be sure the water is not contaminated? Because appearances can be deceiving, the only way to tell if your water is safe is by laboratory analysis.
For a fee, a laboratory can reliably tell the pollutants that can be in your water supply. The yellow pages can give you a list of laboratories that do this.
Distributors of water purifiers and purification systems can offer to test water for free. But it is best to avoid them from fraudulent results can reach only to sell their products.
The number of pollutants in water varies from time to time so it's a good idea to have your water periodically. Have your water project not only for bacteria, but like substances toxic. The test results reveal the range of contaminants in water and allow it to take appropriate steps to purify it.
For most people, This simply involves boiling. Boil water for at least 20 minutes should be sufficient to eliminate harmful bacteria. Unfortunately, this procedure alters the taste of water and may put a strain on your wallet by the time you pay your electric bill.

If no, repeat treatment and let stand another 15 minutes. For iodide, use five drops per liter of clean water, 10 per quart of cloudy water, mix and let stand for 30 minutes, "said Jane Brody, an award-winning columnist for The New York Times in his book Nutrition."
For those who prefer the natural way to purify water, sunlight can help. This was informed by the Health Alert, a publication of the Information Network Health Action (HAIN). Dr. Alim Acra at the American University in Beirut said the solar radiation is a simple and inexpensive way to treat water. This method has been successfully tested in India and the Arab Republic of Yemen. For best results, Accra, said:
The water must be irradiated in transparent containers of small volume one to three liters.
The water should be exposed to the sun directly in their brightest period of 95 to 300 minutes (one and five hours media).
The water should be clear with few particles in suspension and low bacterial density.

During the rainy season, there is enough sunlight in tropical countries to disinfect water.
