About Sublimation Printers
Dedicated photo printers differ from all-purpose printers as they are designed to print only the photos, rather than text or graphics documents, and photos. They are usually compact and lightweight, and some models even have batteries that let you print without the need for an outlet.
Most photo printers, including dye-sublimation (or dye-sublimation-) printers are built around a thermal dye engine, though there are some that inkjet technology feature.
For many years, dye sublimation printers devices are used in the demand for specialist applications and photographic printing. The advent of digital photography led to the entry of this technology into the mainstream, which form the basis of many independent, portable photo printers which appeared in the second half of the 1990s.
The term "dye" in the name refers to solid colors that were used in the process instead of ink or toner. "Sublimation" is the scientific term for a process where the solids (in this case, dyes) are converted into their state gas, bypassing the liquid phase intervention.
The printing process used by a dye-sublimation printers differs from injection ink. Instead of spraying jets of ink on a small page as Inkjet Printers do, dye-sublimation printers apply a dye a plastic film.
