affordable laser printer-home model to be used for image-transfer techniques as well as regular printing?
I believe it is the iron oxide (?) in certain laser toners that make it useful in image-transfer processes (onto polymer clay, metal, glass etc). I’d appreciate comments from anyone who has successfully used an affordable color laser printer in art work and can recommend brand, model etc. I need a printer (inexpensive is the operative word) and want one that is multi-use so I don’t have to run to the copy shop for every art project. Many thanks.
I question the availability of what you want, but if the copy shop color copiers produce a usable product, the obvious answer is to go to places that sell the laser printers and get them to run their samples and take them home and try them on the process you want.
I have never heard of iron oxide in laser toner (it is plastic as far as I have heard), and I work with glass a lot and wonder what transfer method you are aware of – it can’t be very permanent on glass if it isn’t etched or used as a mask for abrasive blasting.
