How much to bill client for printing on my home color printer?
I am just starting my own consulting business and I printed some items on my color printer for a client. I have not yet established a rate for this. I printed 10 pages in color on Legal Paper and 20 pages in color in regular letter paper. Any ideas on what to charge?
I wanted to add that I have a color laser printer.
It really depends on the printer. If you go to the printer’s website, it will tell you the cost/page for color and b/w. It will also explain the assumptions behind that. Such as 13 cents/color page assuming that 10% of the page was printed on. But if you are printing something with 40% of the page being covered, multiply that by 4! Then don’t forget to include the cost of the paper itself of course, the wear and tear on your printer, and then whatever markup you’d like to add for yourself.
Sorry I don’t have a more direct answer than that, but it truly depends on your printer. inkjet, laser, toner and the cost of the ink. Good luck!
